Maintaining your Mental Health during Unprecedented Times

by Jim Moreo

Cornerstone is unique for its holistic approach to work-life balance. We combine information technology services with emotional intelligence and mental health awareness.
A few years ago, Tommy Moreo brought in an expert on Emotional Intelligence (EI) to help Cornerstone integrate EI practices into our company culture. We implemented Kolbe Index assessments and Culture Diversity training.
Having these tools emphasizes the importance Cornerstone places on emotional intelligence and mental health. Life, both personal and work, is complex. Add in the pandemic and we are all managing our lives in uncharted waters. These unusual circumstances along with an already complicated life will create levels of stress that challenge our mental well-being. It is very important that we recognize that we are not alone with these feelings.
Today’s world brings unprecedented challenges to the mental wellbeing of our coworkers, friends, and family — and we all can support each other. Unfortunately, mental illness is not as easy to recognize and acknowledge as a physical illness — but that does not make it any less important. Please take time this Mental Health Awareness Month to acknowledge that we are living in a very stressful period and we need to lend care and support to each other. Reach out and offer help if you know someone who is struggling mentally.
Don’t be afraid to reach out if you need help! There are many organizations ready to help at no cost to you, such as CrisisTextLine.org.
We are all in this together and will get through this together.
Jim
